The Heart of Kharkiv’s Musical Heritage
The People’s Folk Instruments Orchestra is more than just a musical ensemble; it is a living history of the Kharkiv artistic school. For 90 years, our orchestra has preserved the soul of Ukrainian music, bringing together generations of talented musicians, students, and folk instrument enthusiasts.
Music That Never Stops
Today, led by Maestro Valeriy Horodovenko, the orchestra continues its rehearsals and performances in its home city — Kharkiv. Despite the ongoing challenges of war, our music remains a symbol of Ukrainian spirit, cultural endurance, and the unbreakable bond of our community. We don’t just play instruments; we protect our intangible cultural heritage.
Tradition Meets the Digital Age
We believe that history must look forward. Our mission today is to transform the orchestra into a modern Digital & Music Hub. Through the digitization of unique archives and the integration of new technologies, we are ensuring that the sounds of the domra, bandura, and cymbalom reach global audiences and future generations.
Our Community
To support this mission, we have established the NGO «AViDO» (ASSOCIATION OF ALUMNI AND FRIENDS OF THE ORCHESTRA). We invite all our graduates, fans, and partners worldwide to join our efforts. Together, we are not just preserving the past — we are building a vibrant future for Ukrainian folk music.
